Xinyuan.jpgXinyuan worked on his postgraduate thesis in our group with PhD student Shazhou Wang on the topic of surface passivation of black silicon. He showed by both 1D and 2D modelling that field-effect passivation is significantly enhanced on black silicon for moderate fixed charge densities, but unfortunately, this enhancement is not there for high fixed charge densities we see in the state-of-the–art surface passivation films. This novel insight is very important for researchers and industry players which are optimising their black silicon solar cells.
