Dr. Teng Choon Kho has extensive experience in the modelling, fabrication, and characterisation of silicon solar cells. He completed a double degree in Chemistry and Electronics in 2010 and earned his PhD in Photovoltaics in late 2019. His doctoral research focused on the electret SiO2-SiNx-SiOx (ONO) surface passivation, which led to an independently certified 25.0% IBC cell efficiency. Dr. Kho received ACAP funding and an ARENA grant to explore high-efficiency hybrid polysilicon IBC solar cells and cost-effective metal oxide IBC solar cells. In 2023, he joined SunDrive Solar, where he modelled and characterised heterojunction solar cells, contributing to a record efficiency of 26.6%.

In 2025, Dr. Kho joined Prof. Hoex’s team to investigate and enhance the potential of silicon solar cells for space applications.
